Tasks

Tasks are commitments. Lists hold things worth keeping, the Journal holds things worth understanding, Routines hold things you should never have to remember twice. Everything gets a place; only a few things get your focus.

Where a task can live

Every task belongs in exactly one of four places, and HeroMind never lets one become invisible:

PlaceMeaning
TodayIt has today's date, or it rolled forward from an earlier day.
A future dayIt has a date. It appears in the Week View on that day and rolls forward from there if unfinished.
A projectIt belongs to a project and may be dateless. Project pages list their tasks; the planner shows them once they get a day.
The inboxNo project and no date. The holding pen for things you have not decided about.

Things you are not committing to do are not tasks. They go to Lists, where they cost nothing to keep.

Work and Personal

Every task is in one space. The switch at the top of the planner changes the whole view. Planning your job never buries your life, and a personal errand never sits between two work items.

Flags, stars, and rolling forward

  • Flag means today. Flagged tasks appear on the Focused tab and roll forward with you until you complete or unflag them. Agents can flag nothing; only you decide what is on today's list.
  • Star marks a priority on planning views (the Week View, the planner, the task editor). Starred tasks sort first within a day.
  • Rolling forward. An unfinished dated task moves to the next day each morning. This is not failure; it is the moment you decide: do it, move it, or drop it. Review overdue on the planner walks a backlog one task at a time.

Recurring tasks

Set a task to repeat on a schedule (weekdays, the first of the month, every Sunday). Occurrences appear on their days like any task. Two rules differ from ordinary tasks: a missed occurrence does not roll forward, the next one simply shows fresh; and editing the template changes future occurrences, not past ones. Recurring tasks are for commitments with a calendar shape. Habits you are building belong in Routines.

Assigned to others

A task can be assigned to someone on your team. To Others in the sidebar lists everything you have delegated, and a task returns to your list when they hand it back or you unassign it.

Effort and work notes

Each task can carry an effort (15m, 30m, 1.5h, 4h, or anything you type) and work notes: how you would approach it, the first physical action, what is blocking it. Effort shows as a badge so a glance at the day tells you whether it is realistic; the AI uses both when it advises.

Description and provenance

A task's description is plain text with links. It is where the why lives. Tasks filed by an agent always carry one: what the agent saw, in which account, and why it thinks the action is needed, plus a Run link back to the run that filed it. Agent-filed tasks also carry a reference key so a re-run never files the same task twice.

The AI's part

  • Triage turns a brain dump, a pasted list, or a voice-memo transcript into sized, categorized, de-duplicated tasks for your review.
  • Advise me proposes an order for the day with a reason per task and a capacity check.
  • Review overdue proposes a decision per slipped task.
  • What HeroMind learns about how you work (estimates versus actuals, what you defer) is drawn only from your own history, is visible in Settings, and can be dismissed or deleted.

None of it acts alone. Every change waits for your confirmation.

Task editor

Open any task for the full editor: title, description, space, day, project and section, effort, work notes, recurrence, assignment, and the star and flag. The same editor is used everywhere a task appears, so nothing is only editable from one screen.
